Anna Derriks studied architecture at the UdK Berlin and the Glasgow School of Arts. Her written thesis deals with the uncanny, nightly, and strange sides of the city. It was honoured with an appreciation award as part of the Max Taut Prize. In 2018, Anna received the Elsa Neumann Scholarship for the promotion of young artists and a DAAD scholarship for a stay in Japan. She dedicated this time to a photographic investigation of Japanese cities. In 2019, she showed some of the pictures in a group exhibition at the Städtische Galerie Eichenmüllerhaus. In 2022 Anna completed an MAS in History and Theory of Architecture at ETH Zurich. Her thesis deals with Breitscheidplatz as a case study of the transformation of public space through privatization and militarization. From 2019 to 2024 she was an academic assistant to Prof Sylvia Claus at the Department of Art History at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
