Christine Hieb studied East Asian Art History and Japanese Studies (B.A.) at The Free University of Berlin and Historical Urban Studies (M.A.) at Technical University Berlin. From 2023 to 2025 she worked as research assistant at the Berlin Institute for Population and Development, and has been a research assistant at the Department of Design and Urban Development at Technical University Darmstadt since 2024. Her research interest includes the interdependency of the built environment, architecture, and social as well as cultural transformations. As part of the DFG-Research Training Group “Organizing Architectures”, she is currently analyzing the development of the Japanese shea hausu (engl. “share house”) market in Tokyo since the beginning of the 21st century and its future as a housing model for post-growth societies.
