Katharina Böttger works as a curator of contemporary urban studies with CityLab at the Historical Museum Frankfurt (HMF). Prior to this, she worked for many years as a freelance curator and urban researcher for institutions including the German Architecture Museum.
Her work focuses on communicating urban processes and phenomena at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, culture, and art, exploring the question: Who shapes the image of the city?
She studied human geography (Goethe University Frankfurt) and urban design (HafenCity University Hamburg).
Most recently, she co-curated the exhibitions “Everyday housing issues. On privatisation, refurbishment and protest” (HMF), “City of women photographers. Frankfurt 1844 – 2024” (HMF), and “Adaptive Architecture building upon the existing” (DAM).
