Katharina Marschall studied art history in Marburg and Würzburg. In her master’s thesis, she examined the negotiation processes about the Castle-Square-Discussion in Berlin and the significance of the identity-forming urban space. She works at the State Office for Preservation of Historical Monuments in Hesse in inventory and urban preservation of historical monuments. Since 2023, she has there been part of a project in which the urban planning and monument preservation survey (SDA) is developed and implemented as a planning basis for Hessian places. Additionally, she is interested in the negotiation processes of various stakeholder groups in the context of urban design. Civic engagement in preserving historical building stock and places that define identity is of great importance to the preservation of monuments. In her dissertation, she examines the relationship between historical urban development and monument-related evaluation criteria in the public interest.
