Leonie Plänkers

Leonie Plänkers is an urban researcher with a background in architecture and urban planning who explores the connections between materiality and urban society. She has worked in the field of participatory urban and project development and served as a research assistant in the Department of Design and Urban Planning, in the LOEWE Schwerpunkt “Architectures of Order,” and in the Department of Urban and Spatial Sociology at TU Darmstadt. In her dissertation (2026, BTU Cottbus), she develops a concept for urban impact research using the case study of Frankfurt’s New Old Town. She is a co-founder of the DFG-funded research network “Wirkungsforschung in Architektur und Städtebau: Interdisziplinäre Theorien und Methoden.”
