Jessica Pineda-Zumaran is an architect and planner who holds a PhD in Environmental Planning and Management from the University of Manchester (UK), with post-doctoral work in Japan and Chile. She is a senior researcher at URBES-LAB (Peru) and invited lecturer at the Planning Master Programme at Saint Augustine National University (Peru). Her research is informed by institutional theory and focuses on urban policy, spatial planning systems, and urban management in Peruvian and Latin American cities. Before becoming an academic, she was a professional planner, working mainly in secondary cities in southern Peru.
