Dr. Sarah Borree

Sarah is an architectural historian and cultural studies scholar whose research examines how architectural knowledge is shaped by visual culture, professional networks, media formats, and institutional contexts. With a focus on the 20th and 21st centuries, she is particularly interested in the role of photographic practices in the production and circulation of architectural knowledge. Having studied architecture in Germany and the US, she earned a PhD in Cultural Studies at the University of Edinburgh. She has worked and taught internationally in various roles, including as a postdoctoral researcher and project coordinator on the research project ‘Architectures of Order’ at Goethe University Frankfurt and as a visiting junior professor of architectural theory and history at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. She currently teaches architectural history and media studies at Goethe University, combining research-led pedagogies with an interdisciplinary perspective on architecture, media and institutional practices.
